Xíu Mại (Meatballs)

Meatballs:

2 lbs ground pork
2 teaspoons chicken powder
2 teaspoons cooking wine
2 teaspoons fish sauce
2 teaspoons pepper
1 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 can chicken liver pate (4.76 oz)
1 large chopped onion
2 eggs
Minced garlic
Oil (for making the meatballs)

Steam meatballs for about 35-40 mins on medium-high heat.

The sauce:

Chicken stock
2 teaspoons of sate (gia vị sa tế ăn phở)
2 tablespoons of ketchup
Salt, fish sauce, sugar (to taste)

Put the cooked meatballs and the sauce into the sauce pan. Add all ingredients above and let it shimmering for about 5 mins on low heat.

This dish is served with some cilantro and some hot baguette.
